Xiaomi’s entry-level phone, the Redmi 7A has started receiving the Android 10 update. The phone was launched last year with Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10. It was updated to MIUI 11 earlier this year, but it was still based on Android 9.
However, the device started receiving the latest update in China recently. Then it was Europe’s turn to get it. And now, it is finally rolling out for the users in India. It is good to see that Xiaomi is rolling out the Android 10 update to an $85 phone.

Huawei Mate 40 won’t be the first phone with an under-display selfie camera
Selfie cameras have come a long way since they first appeared in the front panel of a smartphone. We have seen them arrive in notches, in hole-punch cut-outs, and we even say a few with their own mechanical system that made them rise to action when needed. However, we may soon get under-display selfie cameras, just not in the Huawei Mate 40.
A new Huawei Mate 40 is on the way, and rumors suggested that it would be the first device to include an under-display selfie camera developed by Visionox. Unfortunately for Huawei fans, that won’t be the case. Digital Chat Station claims he has seen the device in person, and he’s even seld an engineering sample of the phone, which doesn’t include an under-display camera. He didn’t give further details, so we still don’t know if we will get a notch or a punch-hole display.

Say goodbye to June with amazing deals on the 10.2-inch iPad and more
Deals. It’s the last day of June but you can bet it’s not our last day of deals. Let’s start off with the 10.2-inch iPad which is $50 off, leaving the entry level variant for $279 shipped. If you want extra storage, the 128GB variant is also $50 off, leaving it at $379. The Razer Blade 15 is also $300 off, leaving the Intel Core i7, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD variant for $1700 shipped. The Galaxy Note 10 Lite is also $100 off, leaving it at $450 at B&H. We have more deals on Chromebooks, Galaxy Watches, Beats headphones and more in the links in the description.Qualcomm announces Snapdragon Wear 4100 Platforms for wearables
Qualcomm just announced their new Snapdragon War 4100 and 4100+ platforms for the future of smartwatches. It’s built on a hybrid 12nm architecture, down from the 28nm from last year. This new architecture includes a higher performance SoC with improved CPU, GPU, Memory, Cellular Modem and camera sub systems. Basically the difference between the two is that the 4100+ is a big processor with the same small co-processor we saw on the 3100, while the 4100 is just a big processor. Some of the new features promised include Super-Fast Performance and Connectivity, a dedicated LTE mode, a Smarter Always On Display with far more colors. We have all of the specifics in the links in the description.Microsoft might unveil the cheaper Xbox Series S console in August
It’s no secret that the PS5 made a bunch of headlines this month after they revealed the design but, we didn’t get a price tag and we’re assuming it’s going to be kinda hefty. Now, we’ve known that Microsoft will most likely have the upper hand when it comes to actual performance of the Series X but we’re also assuming that price tag will be heft as well. Apparently Microsoft is working on a more affordable console which is codenamed “Lockhart” and will reportedly debut as the Xbox Series “S”. The codename came from some leaked devkit documents but now a new report claims that this more affordable console will be announced in August. According to the leaks, this console will aim at 1080p and 1440p gaming instead of the 4K we’ll be getting from the Series X. It will bring the same CPU as the Series X but it will pack less usable RAM and a less powerful GPU. We’ll keep you posted.Google acquires North, the maker of Focals smart glasses
Do you remember Google Glass? Well that didn’t turn out the way Google intended it to and now we’ve been getting a lot of rumors of Apple’s AR Glasses so Google decided to make a move. Mountain View just acquired North, the company behind the Focals 1.0 Smart Glasses. Neither of the two companies have disclosed the financial transaction but Rick Osterloh said in a blog post that North will be merged with Google’s team in Canada. The problem with this is that we won’t be getting the Focals 2.0 and this project is aimed at the long run so we’re not exactly sure about when we’ll get to see some hardware. Let’s just hope it’s Focals handling what’s coming up next and not Google. I mean.. Focals has succeeded, Google hasn’t.OnePlus’ upcoming budget phone will officially debut as OnePlus Nord
It’s finally June 30 so OnePlus just launched the first episode of their documentary series and it actually reveals a lot of information. First off, the phone will be dubbed as the OnePlus Nord, the company even changed the Instagram account name to “OnePlus.Nord”. On this first episode, Pete Lau announced that this will be the company’s first product under the $500 mark in recent years. He also mentioned that it will be sold in India and Europe and only selected US consumers will be able to get it through a highly limited beta program after the release. We’re not sure if this is an early design but in one of the scenes we see a phone with a flat punch hole display and with dual selfie cameras, pretty much like the leaks. Pre-orders will also be available tomorrow, even if we haven’t really seen the phone. And no, stop looking at me funny, I don’t have the phone yet..Story of the day:
iPhone 12 will allegedly record 4K videos at 240fps
Don’t expect to find BOE OLED panels in 5G iPhones soon
And finally for the hottest news today, let’s talk iPhone 12. We’ve got two separate leaks, one that’s expected, the other that still has me speechless, and I’m not talking about the lack of a charger, we discussed that yesterday. Let’s start with a follow-up with Apple and BOE displays, or should I say, the lack of a partnership. According to a new DigiTimes report, BOE failed to secure Apple’s validation for these displays. This doesn’t mean that they won’t supply displays at all, it just means that we might get BOE displays on some iPhones until Q4, after the phone is launched. Meanwhile, Samsung and LG will be handling all of the displays until Apple and BOE can iron out their issues. But alright, let me ask you this: Name one consumer grade camera that can film 4K at 240fps. Heck, name one that can film 4K at 120fps. Thing is, we can barely name a handful that can do 4K at 60fps even today. Well on an interesting note, earlier this weekend, EverythingApplePro posted a new video with leaks and predictions for the iPhone 12 line, one of them being an option to record 4K video at 240FPS, and today, according to a tipster on Twitter, there is evidence on the iOS 14 Beta filesystem that mentions this feature, allowing for 4K video at 240FPS native video. Like this is nuts. I still consider any iPhone after the XS to be a great B camera, or good enough for anyone to start a YouTube channel. YouTube TV subscription price hiked to $64.99 as it adds new channels
YouTube has announced a steep hike for the subscription cost of its YouTube TV service, going up from $50 per month to $64.99, with the new price going into effect June 30 onwards for new customers. As for current subscribers, the price hike will reflect in their monthly billing cycle on or after July 30.
“This new price reflects the rising cost of content and we also believe it reflects the complete value of YouTube TV, from our breadth of content to the features that are changing how we watch live TV,” Christian Oestlien, Vice President of Product Management at YouTube TV, said in a blog post.
To keep bringing you the best service possible, we are updating our membership price to $64.99. This new price will be effective immediately for new members, while existing members will see the new price beginning 7/30.
— YouTube TV (@YouTubeTV) June 30, 2020
The company says subscription charge has gone up due to the rising cost of content as it adds eight more channels from ViacomCBS. The new channels that will be available starting today are BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land, and VH1. Furthermore, BET Her, MTV2, MTV Classic, Nick Jr., NickToons, and TeenNick will soon be added to the YouTube TV catalog as well.

It seems that Samsung won’t attend the next IFA 2020
This year’s IFA 2020 event will take place in Berlin in September, not precisely how we’re used to, but at least it will take place despite the ongoing pandemic. The physical event would still take place, with a strict attendee limit, and some virtual presentations, but it seems that Samsung won’t be part of it.
According to news from South Korea, Samsung won’t take part in the next IFA 2020 event. There is no official statement on the matter, but the company would’ve taken this decision to avoid unnecessary mass gatherings and complications because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Samsung has attended IFA regularly since 1991, but we know that the company usually prefers to launch its flagships during its Unpacked events.

Microsoft might unveil the cheaper Xbox Series S console in August
Earlier this month, leaked devkit documents revealed more details about another Project Scarlet console from Microsoft codenamed ‘Lockhart’ that will reportedly debut as Xbox Series S. Now, a new report from Eurogamer suggests that the more affordable next-gen Xbox console will be announced in August.
Microsoft is said to have planned a debut in June, but those plans were nixed, and the announcement has now been moved to August. We don’t know what the Xbox Series S will look like, but it is claimed to target 1080p and 1440p gaming compared to the 4K benchmark of its more powerful sibling – the Xbox Series X.
Notably, the Xbox Series S will reportedly have the same CPU as the Xbox Series X, but will come equipped with less usable RAM and less powerful GPU. Unsurprisingly, it will command a lower price tag and will reportedly hit the shelves alongside the Xbox Series X in the fall season.

Some new leaks for the Snapdragon 875 have just emerged, showing an interesting new feature. According to the tipster, the 875 will be capable of 100W fast charging. This will be advertised as a feature for gaming phones, allowing for a shorter down-time between gaming sessions. We’re expecting this SoC to be produced on a 5nm architecture and rocking the new Cortex X1 as its prime core and three Cortex A77 cores. On the meantime we’re expecting Qualcomm to launch an 865+ this July which we’ll talk about in a minute.New Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 renders reveal its color variants
Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite launch reportedly delayed, could debut next year for $830
We’ve been covering a lot of leaks when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3. From certifications, to specs to renders. Well, now we have some more renders from Evan Blass as well but, these look more like the official renders Samsung would use to show off the different color variants. According to Evan and the renders, we’ll be getting Black and Bronze variants while the Bronze kinda looks like a Rose Gold tone. There’s also been some rumors of a Galaxy Fold Lite which we were apparently going to get at Unpacked but, a new leak claims that it was postponed. According to a South Korean publication, the Fold Lite has been delayed until 2021 and it will reportedly cost around $830. It’s said to arrive with different components as the Fold and the outer display will reportedly be smaller than the Z Flip’s, if that’s even possible. It’ll only support LTE, bring 256GB of storage and Mirror Black and Purple variants.OnePlus Buds in Black with a closed-fit design leaked
Along with the leaks for the OnePlus Nord, we’ve been getting leaks of some OnePlus TWS earbuds for the longest time. Most of them came in sketches and now we have a new one from the same source. The design hasn’t really changed much, they still kinda look like AirPods on the Pixel Buds case but these ones seem to have buttons on the side. This sketch emphasizes on a Black color variant with red accents which we hadn’t exactly seen before. We’re supposed to be getting these along with the OnePlus Nord and they should have Touch Controls, the Google Assistant and fast-pairing with OnePlus devices.Samsung Galaxy Note 20 has fixed Galaxy S20 focusing issues
We have some new tweets from Ice Universe about what we should expect at Unpacked and now it’s getting way better. On the first tweet he mentions again that Samsung has completely fixed the S20 Ultra’s focusing problem but he also mentions that the QHD+ display at 120Hz is still not optimistic. Then on a more interesting tweet he claims that Samsung have eaten up the Snapdragon 865+ processors. He claims that the whole Note 20 Series, the Galaxy Fold 2, the Z Flip 5G and even the Tab S7 will be using the Snapdragon 865+ processors. If you remember last year, the 855+ was announced on July 15th so, we’ll keep you posted.Story of the day:
Kuo reiterates Apple’s plans of a new 10.8-inch iPad in 2020, iPad Mini in 2021
[UPDATE] Apple to not include in-box charger and EarPods with iPhone 12 series?
Ming Chi Kuo is back and, we don’t really like what he has to say this time. Let’s start off with iPads, back in May Kuo said that Apple would be releasing two new iPads. Now, on his latest report he mentions them once again, a new 10.8-inch iPad for the second half of 2020 followed by an 8.5in iPad Mini in the first half of 2021. We don’t know if the 10.8in iPad will be a successor to the 10.2-inch iPad or the 10.5-inch but, both this one and the iPad Mini should bring that 20W charger we covered last week in the box. Speaking of that charger, Kuo claims that it might not make it to the iPhone 12’s box after all. The report says that Apple will remove the EarPods and the power adapter from the box, leaving only the USB-C to Lightning Cable. This means that you’ll either have to pony up $30 for the 18W or 20W or $20 for the 5. We’ve also been seeing some leaks of AirPower fully working so if that’s coming that might be the reason for this decision. Amazon Prime Video finally gets a shared viewing feature called Watch Party
Amazon has today launched a new feature called Watch Party, which as the name suggests, will let users remotely watch a movie or TV show together with other people at the same time with a synchronized playback. The Watch Party feature will let up to a 100 people join a viewing party remotely (via TechCrunch).
As of now, Watch Party is only available in the US and is applicable for the entire Prime Video catalog of movies and TV shows, except those that are available for rent or purchase. The host will have playback control, and there is also a chat feature where all the participants can communicate via text messages and emojis.
It must be noted that all participants must also have a Prime subscription to enjoy a co-viewing experience. Also, it is quite private, as only those who’ve received a Watch Party link from the admin can join in. Prime Video’s new Watch Party feature is only available for desktop as of now, and there is no word if – or when – it will arrive on the mobile platform.

Google Photos temporarily disables image backups for messaging apps
Google has today announced that it is temporarily disabling image backups for media shared via messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook. The change is being made in an effort to conserve internet resources and save bandwidth as people are sharing more media than ever while they are stuck at home during the ongoing pandemic.
“Due to COVID-19, people are sharing more photos and videos. To save internet resources, backup & sync has been turned off for device folders created by messaging apps like WhatsApp, Messages, and Kik,” the message in the Google Photos community forum said. However, the image backups feature can still be turned on by users.
As for the apps themselves, an APK teardown of the Google Photos app’s latest version (via XDA-Developers) suggests that backups have been disabled for WhatsApp, Messenger, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, Helo, Instagram, LINE, Messages, and Viber. A notification will inform users that image backups have been disabled in Google Photos, so that they can take the necessary action.

Kuo reiterates Apple’s plans of a new 10.8-inch iPad in 2020, iPad Mini in 2021
In May, we reported that Apple was working on a new 10.8-inch iPad that is set to debut in the second half of 2020. The information came from reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Now, the same source has reiterated Apple’s plans for new iPads. He has revealed that the company is working on new iPad models for this year as well as next year.
The latest development comes from Macrumors,. The publication obtained a research note by Kuo that says Apple is planning to launch a new 10.8-inch iPad in the second half of 2020. It will be followed by a new 8.5-inch iPad in the first half of 2021. For reference, the same was reported in May. However, the exact screen size of the upcoming iPad Mini wasn’t known back then.
The report goes on to says that Kuo did not specify if the 10.8-inch iPad model will be a new version of the existing 10.2-inch iPad or the 10.5-inch iPad Air. As for the iPad Mini, it was last refreshed in March 2019. Further, Kuo expects Apple to include a new 20W power adapter in the box with both iPad models. This comes after the latest rumor suggested the absence of the in-box charging brick from iPhone 12 models.

Sennheiser HD 450BT review: comes with compromises but I like them anyway
A month ago, I was looking for a pair of wireless headphones with necessities from active noise cancellation to terrific battery life and good sound quality. I shortlisted about half a dozen products, but the ones I liked were too pricey (above $250 / Rs 20,000). Further, no sale was going on either so I had no scope for getting a good discount. That’s when Sennheiser sent us the HD 450BT for review.
Sennheiser is known for producing quality headphones and I’ve got to say, the HD 450BT are no different. That said, for most of the benefits they offer, there is a “but” to it, which I’ve mentioned throughout my review here. I’ve been using these headphones for the past three weeks now, and here’s what I make of them.
Build, Design and Comfort
The Sennheiser HD 450BT come in two color options – Black and White. We received the latter. While I prefer my tech to be black in color, the HD 450BT in White look absolutely gorgeous. They sport golden-silverish trims at each end of the headband, which gives them more appeal than the black ones. Overall, the minimalism here makes for a good-looking product. Further, I’ve used many headphones that creak while you open and close the ear flaps. Thankfully, the build is solid and these do not creek at all.
They feature an all-plastic build but do not feel cheap. The plastic is smooth and condensed. Further, the Sennheiser HD 450BT weigh only 238 grams. I wore them for a stretch of three hours straight without feeling the need to take them off.
The clamping force is tight enough without becoming uncomfortable. In room temperature, the ear cushions – made of faux leather – don’t become overly warm with use. However, if you wear them during a run or even while walking, they do collect sweat since there is no IP rating. While we are on the ear cushions, it is worth mentioning that the space given to your ears in the cushion is not the biggest. And those of you who have big ears might face some discomfort during longer sessions.

It feels weird talking about portability at this point in time while we are in the middle of a pandemic and people aren’t traveling. But we need to mention this anyway. The Sennheiser HD 450BT are well suited for portability. You can fold them inwards, which makes them easier to store in your bag. Moreover, they come with a pouch for you to keep your purchase clean. Further, you also get a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm cable. It is hard to get so you don’t want to lose it.
So many buttons!
Rather than opting for pricey touch controls, Sennheiser went with an all-button layout on the HD 450BT. There are four buttons that are all located on the right earcup. The button layout includes three multi-use keys – a power/pairing/ANC key, a volume rocker, and a multi-button key that you can use for answering calls and skipping tracks.
The learning curve is real, folks! I’ve been using these for three weeks now and I still fumble my may to the button I need. I haven’t gotten used to it yet, and it seems like I won’t either. Now, don’t get me wrong here, having a button for each function I need is a blessing. I don’t need to pick up my phone for changing the track or answering calls or even calling somebody. I can do the latter by asking the Assistant from the headphones itself. But I wish Sennheiser had a better way to implement the button layout.
Performance
The Sennheiser HD 450BT supports SBC, AAC, APTx, and APTx-LL, which helps lower the latency that at times wireless headphones suffer with. I had no latency problems while watching videos on Netflix, YouTube, or Prime. Further, connection stability is good and I was able to listen to music while doing the dishes when my phone was kept in the other room 15 meters away.

It delivers on what you’d expect from a Sennheiser product. The sound performance is smooth, detailed, and the instruments don’t get lost in the mix. I enjoyed listening to my favorite tracks on these. I’m not a heavy-bass-person. That said, if you are looking for a pair of cans that are bass-heavy and thump your head with each beat, the HD 450BT are not for you. While the bass never gets overpowering, it hits where its need in electronic and hip-hop tracks. All in all, it delivers a balanced bass.
The details are good, and the treble is sharp. Moreover, you can add a little more treble from the Smart Control app to slightly increase vocal performance. Notably, the app is pretty useless apart from that.

The audio depth and dimension is good. However, the soundstage is more compact than expansive. Hence, some tracks felt a little enclosed. From Queen’s Rock to Kodaline’s Indie music, I loved listening to songs on these. Folk music like Riptide from Vance Joy had a good separation between the instrument (ukulele here) and the vocals.
While the range of upper frequencies can be improved, for the price, the HD 450BT offer above-average performance. Further, if you listen to a lot of podcasts, you are going to love the Sennheiser HD 450BT. The audio sounds clear with no noise or hiss in the vocals.
Coming to the mics, the listeners on the other side said that I sounded good and they couldn’t notice the difference if I was on the phone mic or my headphone mic.

Disappointingly, Sennheiser chose not to include the auto-pause feature on these headphones. What this means is the tracks don’t pause when you take the headphones off. This is a bummer.
Noise Cancellation
The Sennheiser HD 450BT feature ANC, which is uncommon for a headphone priced under $150. The noise-canceling is not as good as the Sony WH-1000XM3, but then the Sony ones I mentioned cost a lot more as well.

To activate ANC, you need to tap the power button. Surprisingly, there is no notification when the feature is on or off. When deactivated, there is a slight pause, and when activated, there’s a slightly longer pause. You need to pay attention to the small pauses. Moreover, if you power off the headphones with ANC on, the feature will still be activated when you power up the headphones next time. Further, the HD 450BT do not offer degrees of noise-canceling. It is either turned on or turned off. There is no middle ground.
ANC on the Sennheiser HD 450BT is good but not the best, which is acceptable for the price tag. While the lower audio frequencies, voices, and TV sounds are blocked, it struggles in dealing with high pitched sounds and sharp noises. On the positive side, there is no cabin pressure, which is a godsend for me as I’m a bit sensitive to ANC.
Battery life

Sennheiser claims that the HD 450BT can deliver up to 30 hours of playback time with ANC-on on a single charge. The battery life on these is excellent. It delivers on the promise. Further, there is USB Type-C for charging your device. It takes about two hours to charge from zero to full. In short, you are getting 30+ hours of playback if you charge your headphones for two hours. The company has done an excellent job here.
Conclusion

You no longer need to shed a premium on a pair of noise-canceling headphones with a good build and sound quality.
While these aren’t perfect, with up-to-date tech like Bluetooth 5.0, APTx-LL, USB Type-C, and excellent battery life, good sound quality and above-average ANC, the Sennheiser HD 450BT are a good deal for $150. For reference, these were launched for $200 in February but are now selling for under $150 on Amazon, which makes them good value-for-money.
As for Indian consumers, for Rs 15,000 too, the Sennheiser HD 450BT are worth considering.
| Pros | Cons |
| + Sleek style | – No auto-pause |
| + Excellent battery life | – Smart Control App is basically useless |
| + Google sound quality | |
| + Can wear for hours |
